Amy Pegors, MS PT, CSCS, CSNC, FMSC

I’ve set state and national powerlifting records, am a licensed Physical Therapist, Strength and Conditioning Coach, Sports Nutrition Coach and Certified Functional Movement Screener. My Bachelors degree in human physiology (study of human tissues and cell functions), and master’s degree in Physical Therapy, were earned from the University of Minnesota. Credentialing as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist is through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CSCS work with NCAA and professional athletes), and credentialing as a Certified Sports Nutrition Coach is through National Academy of Sports Medicine. Over the years I have worked with athletes and non-athletes of all abilities, age, race and gender. In my 20+ years as a therapist and coach, I have learned how our food choices, strength, cardio, flexibility and balance status (the 5 pillars of health) are intertwined, how each one affects the other and ones abilities. I have also learned that if these pillars are managed well, you can prevent many injuries and illnesses.

Unfortunately it is clear the general population does not understand the relationship between food, strength, cardio, flexibility and balance, how they affect wellbeing, functional ability and the implications this will have later in life. Our healthcare model is not proactive and does not pay for most preventative services which puts the onus on an individual to seek out information on how to manage the pillars in order to optimize health and injury prevention. And to do this, you must be proactive.

The broken, reactive, revenue driven health care system is ineffective in teaching preventative care, so I have stepped out on my own to try to help people understand disease and injury prevention and the intricate, interconnected roles of the 5 pillars. My experience as a physical therapist, strength coach and nutrition coach can successfully guide you in your quest to maximize your athletic endeavors, health and fitness. I offer education in nutrition, aerobic and anaerobic workout programming, stretching, balance training and injury prevention. My education and experience as a physical therapist allows me to understand pathologies and work around preexisting injuries and medical conditions. My training lends a depth and breath of knowledge that cannot be matched by a personal trainer. Call or email me to find out how I can help you reach your health and fitness goals.
